Marseille only likes Europe. Qualified for the semi-finals of the Europa League, Jean-Louis Gasset’s players did not rediscover the taste of victory in the championship, Sunday April 21, snatching a small point at the end of added time (2-2), thanks to the incoming Faris Moumbagna, who had already scored against Benfica on Thursday in the Europa League. Interrupting the series of three defeats in the championship is the only satisfaction of the evening.

The refrain is now known, but the Marseille coach, Jean-Louis Gasset, still had to put together a hybrid team, due to the incredible number of injuries. Almost half of the starters played in a position that is not theirs. The staff’s tinkering ended up benefiting Toulouse, who benefited from the failed exit of the goalkeeper, Pau Lopez, to equalize just before the break, then take the advantage in the 82nd minute thanks to Gboho.

Less than seventy-two hours after their qualification on penalties against Benfica on Thursday, the Marseillais wasted a goal in advance, scored by midfielder Jean Onana. But Moumbagna, his fellow Cameroonian who arrived in the winter transfer window, allowed OM not to lose. In terms of saving the French season, however, it is not enough.
