The Ministry of the Interior has issued an order to ban the travel of supporters for eight Ligue 1 football and Coupe de France matches scheduled for this weekend. This decree was published during the night from Thursday to Friday in the Official Journal. In this decree, the ministry recalls that since the beginning of the year “the movements of football club supporters are very frequently a source of disturbances to public order”.

He points “the violent behavior of some” supporters which translated several times into “brawls between supporters”, “violence against the police or the throwing of firecrackers or smoke bombs causes injury or damage”. The ministry mentions in particular the death of a Nantes supporter on the sidelines of a Ligue 1 match against OGC Nice on Saturday December 2 and the stone-throwing of an OL bus ahead of the match against OM at the end of October, injuring OL coach Fabio Grosso and his assistant Raffaele Longo.

The Ministry of the Interior denounces this “context of exacerbation of increasingly serious violence observed since the start of the season”. He also considers that a “real and serious risk of clashes between supporters exists during football matches reported to pose a risk to public order” this week-end.

Five Ligue 1 matches and three Coupe de France matches are affected

Consequently, the decree prohibits the travel of supporters for five Ligue 1 matches. It accommodates supporters of Racing Club de Lens for the meeting with Montpellier Hérault Sport Club on Friday at 9 p.m., supporters of FC Nantes for the meeting with PSG on Saturday at 9 p.m., Toulouse FC supporters for the meeting with OL on Sunday at 5 p.m., Stade de Reims supporters for the meeting with OGC Nice on Sunday at 1 p.m. and OM supporters for the meeting with FC Lorient Sunday at 8:45 p.m.

It also concerns the teams of three Coupe de France matches: the supporters of the Girondins de Bordeaux for the meeting with Angoulême on Saturday at 2 p.m., the supporters of Nîmes Olympique for the meeting with AS Saint-Étienne on Saturday at 3 p.m. and the supporters of AJ Auxerre for the meeting with FC Saint-Méziéry on Saturday at 5 p.m.
