“Dear Gaétan Barrette, this tweet is as unproductive as the authoritarian attitude and threats of François Legault”, wrote Mme Montpetit Wednesday during an exchange on social media with Mr. Barrette.

“We would all gain from a change of tone towards the health professionals who have been carrying the network at arm’s length since the start of the pandemic,” added the deputy for Maurice-Richard. According to a liberal source, the exit of Marie Montpetit is qualified as “unacceptable”.

She was responding to a publication by Gaétan Barrette which attacked the president of the Federation of general practitioners of Quebec, Louis Godin. There he claims to have listened to “all the interviews” of Dr Godin. “He pronounces the same words as in 2015 when he made a commitment to register 85% of the population and to pass his members to the adapted access, a mode of practice by which one sees his doctor in 3 days. Don’t believe it, ”he said.

This is not the first time that the two MPs have been at the center of an incident. At the presessional caucus of the PLQ in Orford in September, Mr. Barrette had indicated that he still wanted to be Minister of Health. “I’m going to tell you very, very formally. The answer is yes, it is my deepest wish that will perhaps remain a wish, ”said the deputy for La Pinière.

Called to react to the words of her deputy, the head Dominique Anglade had instead praised Mr.me Montpetit. “We have an excellent spokesperson called Marie Montpetit at Health,” she said.
