After the actions of ill-treatment in the Ehpad Orpea, the families counter-attack. While the boss of the group was sacked on Sunday evening January 30, several families of residents decided to collectively launch legal action.

Sophie Mayer decided to testify after the revelations of abuse in Ehpad Orpea. According to her, her mother died a few months after being left for 24 hours with both legs broken in her room at Ehpad Orpea, in 2018. At the hospital, “the doctor (…) said that there was suspicion of ill-treatment”, she says. When she wanted to confront the management of the nursing home, she was told: “Older people don’t feel pain.” Today, she wants to file a complaint, like other families. A collective action is led by the lawyer Sarah Saldmann.

The noose is tightening around the Orpea group. He announced on Sunday January 30 the dismissal of the general manager and the appointment of a replacement. Tuesday morning, the management is summoned by the minister responsible for the autonomy of the elderly, Brigitte Bourguignon, to respond to this series of accusations.
