The bill on the financing of social security, which will be studied on Monday, September 25, includes a measure to overcome sick leave given by doctors unknown to the patient.
Three words: work stoppage. After entering them into a search engine and receiving some details about a migraine, a teleconsultation with an unknown doctor is possible. A quick basic questionnaire of a few questions later and the doctor agrees to suspend the patient for a day or two “to see if the crisis goes away”. Practices that do not pass with Health Insurance, which lost 100 million euros in 2021 due to stoppages contracted with a doctor unknown to the patient.
As a response, Health Insurance no longer wishes to cover these specific stops, which delights Jérome Marty, president of the union of the French Union for Free Medicine. “There is a facilitation of the search for work stoppage for certain patients (…) The platforms are launched in financial logics and satisfy patients they do not know and return to their economic logic”. This flagship measure of the social security financing project will be presented on Monday, September 26, 2022.
