Fall screenings | Martin Matte expected at the summit

Martin Matte’s popularity rating is still in good shape. The proof ? His talk show will be the most-watched novelty of the fall, advertising agency projections reveal.

According to the communications firm Cossette Media, Martin Matte live will carve out a place within the top 5 programs that will attract the greatest number of viewers among adults aged 25 to 54, the preferred target of advertisers. Same observation on the side of Dentsu.

These predictions testify to the affection of Quebecers for the comedian, since TVA did not give many details about the show, except that it will go on the air on September 28.

“Martin Matte is a personality much loved by the public,” commented Isabelle Fournier, director, media activation lead, at Cossette. “Based on what he’s done on TV over the past few years, people should like it. The last season of Beautiful discomforts ranked number one. His new show is not a series; it’s a talk show, but we should get back to its essence. We haven’t seen a lot so far, but the few clips that have come out on Facebook [des extraits de rodage au Bordel Comédie Club avec Fabien Cloutier comme invité] show all the sarcasm and irony of Martin Matte. People know they will laugh. »

Expectations are high for Martin Matte’s show, but we think he will live up to expectations. He’s a comedian. People love it. They like his personality.

Rebecca Rodrigues, Director of Media Buying at Dentsu

Martin Matte live is produced by Encore Television and Matte TV. The team recorded a pilot in August. Dumas, who signs the theme of the show, will ensure its musical direction. Each week, the host will conduct interviews (Patrick Huard will be his first guest) and deliver humorous fiction. Actors like Roy Dupuis, Geneviève Schmidt and Isabel Richer will participate in the segment.

Martin Matte live will occupy the Thursday 8 p.m. time slot, compared to the second season of the Game Master with Louis Morissette at Noovo and 100 geniuses on HERE TV. “Thursday evening should belong to him,” says Rebecca Rodrigues.

bodes well for Double occupation

According to Cossette Media, Martin Matte live should end the fall in fifth place in the general ratings rankings, adults 25-54, behind two other big guns from TVA: Masked singers (1er) And Revolution (4e).

Sunday evenings will continue to draw crowds. Besides Masked singers And Revolution, Double occupancy Andalusia (9e), Everybody talks about it (14e) And Double occupancy Andalusia Extra (18e) appear in top 20. According to experts, the reality show in love with Noovo will recover from the departure of host Jay Du Temple and, above all, from the bullying scandal of 2022, which had upset production and frightened several sponsors.

“A number of people were watching OD for Jay Du Temple, but the arrival of the Alicia couple [Moffet] and Frederick [Robichaud] at the controls piques curiosity, says Isabelle Fournier of Cossette Media. They will watch, if only to see how they are doing. »

The first two weeks will be decisive.

For Rebecca Rodrigues, the changes made to the appointment, which begins its 17e season, are beneficial. “I think they did it well by announcing a return to basics, around romantic relationships. And having a couple in charge brings a different energy. This should be good for the show, especially after what happened last year. »

In Week, STAT (2e) should win the second round of the battle of the dailies against Indefensible (3e). “It’s a surprise that they are both so listened to,” says Isabelle Fournier. People really got on board. This should continue. »

“Favorite” novelties

Some new products have received the “favorite” mention from Cossette Media. Among them, MeganticTVA’s fiction about the terrible railway tragedy of 2013. Directed by Alexis Durand-Brault (Robotic portrait, Helping Béatrice), the series is coming to the air after being offered exclusively to Club illico subscribers.

“It’s a story that interests people,” observes Isabelle Fournier. We know there will be emotion. And it’s really a big, international-level production. »

Éléonore Loiselle in Disobey: Chantale Daigle’s choice

On the side of ICI Télé, Eyes closed (with Magalie Lépine-Blondeau) and Plan B (with Pier-Luc Funk) received the agency’s “favorite”, just like The fan wara new game piloted by Phil Roy, and Disobey: Chantale Daigle’s choice at Novo.

On the Télé-Québec side, two titles stand out: The night Laurier Gaudreault woke upthe TV miniseries directed by Xavier Dolan with Julie Le Breton, Éric Bruneau and Patrick Hivon, and For once, a reinvented talk show where several artists interview a single guest. “That leads to different interviews,” notes Isabelle Fournier. It’s a really interesting concept. »

“Télé-Québec is excellent television,” she adds.
