This year, at the height of the fall color season, residents of the town of Woodstock, Vermont are seeing red.
Stormed by waves of sometimes disrespectful tourists and influencers, the small road to Cloudland and its charming landscapes have become increasingly congested over the past five years, to the great dismay of the residents.
Result: it will be closed to non-residents by the municipal authorities for three weeks, while the peak of the festival of colors passes, reports The Boston Globe.
The draconian decision is not unanimous in the city, but is supported by farmers and landowners who find themselves with strangers in their fields or gardens every fall.
However, they hope it is exceptional, counting on the deflating of the overtourism bubble after this unprecedented closure.
