“Falcon Lake”, Charlotte Le Bon’s first film, is selected at Cannes

Falcon Lakethe first feature film directed by actress Charlotte Le Bon, will be presented in May at the Directors’ Fortnight, a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival.

The film tells the story of Bastien, a 13-year-old teenager who leaves the effervescence of Paris with his family to enjoy the peace and quiet of a chalet in Quebec for a summer. There he meets Chloé, 16, the daughter of a long-time friend of his mother, with whom he forms a special connection. He will try by all means to make his place in the girl’s heart.

This is a free adaptation of the graphic novel by Bastien Vivès A sister, whose plot was transposed to Quebec by Charlotte Le Bon and François Choquet, who co-wrote the screenplay. Filmed last year in the Laurentians, Falcon Lake stars Sara Montpetit, Joseph Engel, Monia Chokri and Karine Gonthier-Hyndman.

Better known as an actress, especially in French productions, Charlotte Le Bon presents here her first feature film as a director. His first short film, Judith Hotelwas also selected at Cannes in 2018.

The Cannes Directors’ Fortnight will take place from May 18 to 25. For this 54and edition, eleven female directors are part of the selection out of a total of 23 films.
