For several months, in Annemasse, in Haute-Savoie, crooks have taken control of a residence, going so far as to evict the real tenants to re-rent the apartments.

A climate of extreme tension has set in in a building in the city center of Annemasse (Haute-Savoie). For months, some owners have been victims of squatters, and with some of them, dialogue is impossible. A totally surreal story is at the origin of this situation.

At least four apartments affected

Christelle Combepine has just got her apartment back, which was occupied for a time by squatters. She rented her studio, but one day when she returned home, her tenant found herself at the door. “There was a note on his door: ‘Please come and collect your furniture and personal belongings from the caretaker’, and the lock was changed”, says the owner. At least four apartments in the building were allegedly occupied illegally. A false trustee took advantage of the presence of electric meters in the common areas to appropriate the accommodation.
