We feel a certain urgency when listening to Russell Louder’s latest album. The Montreal singer-songwriter, native of Prince Edward Island, shares with us, in his vibrant Fair weather, a vital imperative to move forward, whatever happens. The excellent title need thus sets the tone for a record that is both exploratory and cathartic. Dissonant violins and a beat catchy electronic music are, in fact, a real showcase for this anthem to self-affirmation which opens the way to a colorful musical sequel. We go from remarkable alt-pop, in Come Around Or Movie Queento something very intriguing, which comes close to what we could describe as dancing blues, with Know by Now. Let us also salute a successful folk test with the very soft Lullaby. If this description seems to go in all directions, it is not: Russell Louder perfect with Fair weather an atypical artistic identity that we discovered with Humor in 2021.
