Factory 1840 | The next generation of artisans rewarded

Since 2018, Maison Simons has hosted the Fabrique 1840 platform on its website, a showcase for Canadian artisans and artisans.

And for the second year, the company awarded $10,000 scholarships to emerging artisans who stand out. Designers Guy Snover and Daniel Martinez, behind Cyrc, in Montreal, have been awarded for their multi-lived Conan vase, made with recycled and recyclable plastic.

Aboriginal artisan Erica Lugt (She Was A Free Spirit) also won a scholarship for her Ciel de Tuktoyaktuk earrings. The jury also highlighted the work of Newfoundland leather goods designer Stephen Brown, from Modjul, while the public’s favorite prizes were awarded to Kantalou and Vox & Oz, two Quebec artisans.
