A few centimeters that make all the difference since high tides and floods are repeated in Venice. The authorities recall the obligation to have a riccio
AT Venice, more and more gondolas are amputated. The riccio, supposed to be removable, has disappeared, which does not seem to worry the gondoliers. Lost, forgotten or stolen, to deal with the problem, a craftsman has found the solution. “Thanks to this hinge, they don’t have to unhook it and then put it back”, underlines Lorenzo della Toffola. Let the purists be reassured, this is not the first time that the gondola has evolved. In theory, this stern is mandatory and the authorities often remind gondoliers of this, because they value this harmony.
