Facing FC Metz, SM Caen wants to resume its virtuous road at Stade D’Ornano

Last season, the SM Caen had had a difficult start to the championship at home, conceding six defeats in the first nine days played at Ornano.

At the height of the crisis, the public had even chambered their players one evening of defeat against Paris FC (0-1) by hijacking the words of a song by Orelsan.

The opponents of the Norman football club had been able to take advantage of the many weedy absentees to stuff themselves with points and frustrate the Blue and Red supporters.

“I would like us not to relive the period that we lived last year when everyone came to help usunderlines the weed coach Stéphane Moulin. I don’t like it when people come to help themselves. I hope we will have this ability to show something solid and strong here to please our supporters.”

An end to the season spent at home as a cannonball

The model to follow is obviously the second half of the season at Stade Malherbe Caen. Stéphane Moulin’s men have not lost in front of their home crowd since January 28 and the arrival of Niort (0-2) either seven games in a row without knowing the slightest defeat.

It is no coincidence that the Norman club has exceeded 6,500 subscribers since the launch of the campaign. Caen supporters are eager to relive the demonstrations that marked the return phase last season with 23 pts taken in the last ten games and two goals scored by the Caen attack on average per game.

These are close to 12,000 supporters who will be expected this Monday evening for the arrival of FC Metz in the middle of August.

“It must be a strength, believes SMC defender Hugo Vandermersch. When you have a stadium and an audience like that, especially in Ligue 2, if you don’t use it, you’re not going in the right direction. Now, I’m not saying we’re going to win all our home games otherwise it would be too easy. But today, it was a strength in the second part of the season and I hope that we will be in continuity on this level.
