Covid-19 infections are on the rise again. 180,000 new cases were recorded on Tuesday March 22, which represents a 30% increase over one week. So many French people have decided to put the mask back on.
The mask has not been compulsory for 10 days, but yet it has not deserted the faces. For many, it is still essential. “I feel protected, as soon as I am with other people, I wear it”admits a woman. “We’re far from over though”thinks another. Indeed, the fifth wave of Covid-19 is rebounding.
Some professionals thus keep the mask on in order to protect their vulnerable patients. For the WHO, lifting the obligation to wear a mask so early was not reasonable. Many scientists believe that it is necessary to revive it, especially indoors. “If you don’t wear the mask, you are exposed to a very high viral load and this can lead to more serious infections or long-lasting covids”warns Antoine Flahaultepidemiologist.
