How to restore purchasing power to the French? The issue of rising wages is increasingly emerging in the debate and in businesses.

On a construction site in Île-de-France, management is unable to recruit qualified personnel. “We need staff, masons, workers, site foremen and team“, explains Jelil Moutarou, director of operations. Twenty positions are to be filled, and as the candidates do not jostle, the company puts its hand in the wallet. Jelil Moutarou declares to propose 10% to 30% more. But the operation of seduction by salary does not always work.

In the building industry, the competition is such that here, after the job interview, it is up to the director to follow up with the candidates in order to have an answer and not the other way around. Radio silence again, for a managerial post paid 5,000 euros per month. In a four-star hotel in Paris, recruitment is done, but with difficulty. Receptionists and catering staff are paid 1,800 euros net, or 15% more than the sector’s salary scale. But for a post advertised a week ago, there is still no candidate.
