An online petition was launched on Wednesday, July 17, to call for a vote by New Popular Front MPs to break the deadlock in negotiations over a joint candidate for Prime Minister.

This petition was set up on its website by the “Victoires Populaires” committee, made up of independent activists, at the origin of the Popular Primary launched during the 2022 presidential election intended to designate a common left-wing candidate for the presidential election. As of Wednesday noon, the petition has collected more than 12,000 signatures.

“Don’t betray us, vote!”is written in the introduction to the petition. “These 9 days of negotiations have led to nothing. Proceed to a vote between the deputies of the New Popular Front to first designate the candidate for the presidency of the National Assembly, then the Prime Minister.”we can read in the press release. “Popular Victories” invites each deputy to write the name of a candidate for Matignon. “The one who gets the most support will be chosen to be the candidate for the post of Prime Minister,” continues the petition, which does not close the door to a candidate “from civil society”.
