“Since 2014, we have embodied this Popular Front in Avignon and we are the ones who have the legitimacy to present ourselves”, estimates Wednesday June 19 the PS mayor of Avignon Cécile Helle, in response to the left-wing candidacy against the LFI Raphaël Arnault in the first constituency of Vaucluse for the legislative elections. She was the guest of France Bleu Vaucluse on Wednesday June 19.

Philippe Pascal (GDS) and Annie Rosenblatt (EELV) are running in dissent in the Avignon constituency. They are dubbed by the PS mayor of Avignon Cécile Helle and the PS senator Lucien Stanzione, supported by the environmentalists, GDS, Generation. s, Place Publique and the PCF. “I support in this campaign Philippe Pascal and Annie Rosenbatt, who are the candidates of the local leftcontinues Cécile Helle. They have always been anchored in this territory, through their life journey, through their journey as committed men and women, they have provided proof that in my eyes they were also the best bulwark against the vote of the National Rally and the vote of the extreme right and that is therefore why I support this candidacy.”

According to the city councilor, “the airdrops have never worked either in Avignon or in the first constituency. Philippe Pascal’s list is supported by the national PS, Olivier Faure spoke out very clearly for this candidacy, as did Marine Tondelier on behalf of the Ecologists . We see that it didn’t come out of nowhere.”

Cécile Helle thinks that it is this ticket which embodies the New Popular Front. “It is legitimate to support this candidacy, I also consider that they have clearly positioned themselves in support of the Popular Front program, and since 2014 we have embodied, I have embodied this Popular Front in Avignon and therefore I believe that it “It is we who have the legitimacy to present ourselves.”

Raphaël Arnault is an antifa activist, listed as S in the police register listing individuals potentially dangerous to national security. He was retained by LFI, the other left-wing forces preferring Philippe Pascal, former labor inspector and humanitarian volunteer, to beat the far right.

The mayor of Avignon “regrets the choice that was made by the authorities and in particular the LFI authorities. An anti-fascist activist who is from Lyon, I do not see why we would need him here to reconquer this first constituency because I am sure that on July 7 at evening, it is Philippe Pascal who will be deputy for this first constituency.
