To face the challenges brought about by global warming, France’s action remains insufficient, according to the conclusions of a report submitted by the High Council for the Climate, Wednesday, June 29.

If France wants to achieve its objectives set for 2030, it will have to “an essential boost” according to the sages of the High Council for the Climate. Of the 25 orientations studied by the High Council, only 6 currently correspond to the national low-carbon strategy. The report still identifies progress as in the construction sector. On the contrary, in the field of agriculture, if the council welcomes the reductions in CO2 emissions thanks to the bioeconomyemissions related to the consumption of fossil energy are singled out.

This report also proposes solutions and recommendations that the government could follow. In particular, the report recommends a funding public over the long term to roll out national measures at the local level. In order to accelerate the ecological transition, an increase in aid to local authorities and a rebalancing of the trade balance by creating new ecological sectors are avenues to follow. At present, France is not ready to face the ecological and climatic challenges of tomorrow.
