Faced with Catherine Dorion’s book, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois says he still wants to “learn”

“No need to choose a side” in the saga involving him and Catherine Dorion, assures Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois. Six years after taking office, the solidarity co-spokesperson says he is in a process of continuous improvement. “We all have things to learn. In six years, I have changed. I continue in this direction,” said the elected official in a press scrum in Montreal on Thursday.

He was questioned for the first time about M’s bookme Dorion, The hotheadswho criticizes his leadership style within Québec solidaire.

A little over a week before the QS members’ congress, the MP for Gouin does not want to fuel a “conflict” with his ex-colleague. “I have been mentioned more than fifty times [dans le livre]. There are several elements that are highlighted. I don’t have the taste and I think it’s not my responsibility to engage in a debate on each of these elements,” he said.

“The members of Québec solidaire expect me, as spokesperson, to send a message of listening and unity,” he added. “GND” is also delighted to have received earlier this week the support of the three candidates for the position of co-spokesperson for the left-wing party.

It ensures that the exit of Mme Dorion does not create any divisions at QS. “There is room for everyone at Québec solidaire. There are very different people who lived together there. Françoise David then Amir Khadir, it wasn’t exactly the same style. »

In his work of nearly 400 pages, Mme Dorion, a former solidarity MP for Taschereau, known for her outspokenness, claims to have suffered on a few occasions during her mandate “emotional and [les] power negotiations” of his party’s co-spokesperson. She describes the work of a parliamentarian as that of a “zombie, self-effacing tribune, script [et] unfit to make history.”

If he refuses to comment individually on the criticism aimed at him, Mr. Nadeau-Dubois is saddened to see the impact that the policy had on the mental health of Ms.me Dorion. “No one should come out of such a contrived political commitment. Beyond disagreements,” he said. “I think we were all saddened to see how affected Catherine came out. This is never acceptable, ever. »

Mr. Nadeau-Dubois is the only candidate in the race for the position of male co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire, which will end on November 26 in Gatineau.
