Faced with Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine, Emmanuel Macron denies having dismissed Anne-Sophie Lapix for the debate against Marine Le Pen

Next Wednesday, April 20, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen will face each other during the debate between the two rounds of the 2022 presidential election. The two candidates will be refereed by Gilles Bouleau, for TF1 and Léa Salamé, for France 2. The name of Anne-Sophie Lapix was rejected by the two finalists in the ballot. “Marine Le Pen does not want Anne-Sophie Lapix to lead the debate”said the president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella on the set of Time for the pros. “She can’t hide her hostility towards Marine Le Pen each time she receives her”he said, adding “even Emmanuel Macron does not want Anne-Sophie Lapix to take the debate”.

Present on the set of C to you on France 5Monday, April 18, the president-candidate denied this information. “The two candidates were consulted, for my part, I have never challenged any journalist or director. Moreover, sorting out journalists, I consider that it is democratically a problem (…) I have not challenged any colleague of yours”he explained. “I understand that you were also on the red list”he addressed to Patrick Cohen, that Marine Le Pen did not want for this highly anticipated meeting. “He was recused”said the host.

Reactions are flowing…

Although she will not present this debate, several voices have been raised to support her. “I am lucky to have an independent journalist, and no one will impose someone on me (…) Critics only strengthen her”said the president of France Televisions, Delphine Ernotte. “Vetoing Lapix or Tartempion is petty, ridiculous. Both Macron and Le Pen act like wrens”strongly criticized Jean-Michel Aphatie. “It also bothered me. It’s not up to politicians to give journalists a good or a bad point on a TV set”estimated for his part, Léa Salame.
