Massive social movement at Lufthansa. The first European air transport group will cancel on Wednesday July 27 the “almost all” of its flights in Germany due to a strike by its ground staff, the company announced, in an already tense context for European aviation.
More than 130,000 passengers on around a thousand flights departing from and arriving at the two main hubs in Frankfurt and Munich are affected, the German company said in a statement on Tuesday, the day after the union called for a strike. Verdi in wage negotiations.

Some 45 long-distance flights have already been canceled as of Tuesday for the two most important hubs in Germany. In total, nearly 7,500 passengers in Asia, the United States or South America will not have been able to board as planned to reach Germany, said Lufthansa in a press release in the evening. The impact of the strike could also lead to occasional cancellations and delays on Thursday and Friday, according to the company.
