faced with a lack of staff, hospitals call on private doctors to help them

The wait in the emergency room is sometimes very long, due to the lack of personnel in the hospitals. “Sometimes, I admit that when I go home, I’m not satisfied with my work”, says Sandrine Daviron, nurse at the Sud Seine-et-Marne hospital. In this establishment, there are a lack of nurses and seven doctors to ensure the permanence of care, that is to say guards. “Even the practitioners who are currently with us, they refuse to do additional time”, notes Kheir-Eddine Hamdi, head of the critical care unit at the Sud Seine-et-Marne hospital.

The French hospital federation asks liberal doctors to come as reinforcements and to perform on-call duty. “The State must guarantee access to care”, affirms Zaynab Riet, general delegate of the Hospital Federation of France, who asks that the professionals organize themselves on a territory. According to liberal doctors, this would scare away the patricians.
