Firmly opposed to a possible primary on the left, the candidate of the Communist Party, Fabien Roussel is visiting the island of Reunion, a land historically favorable to the radical left. Valery The Red, journalist France Télévisions, is live from Reunion Island and details this visit.
The candidate of the Communist Party, Fabien Roussel, is visiting Reunion. The island is historically very favorable to the radical left. Indeed, the latter currently rules the island and finished first in the last presidential election in 2017. However, five years ago, the Communist Party ignored the presidential elections and rallied around Jean-Luc Mélenchon and France Insoumise.
Fabien Roussel therefore came to Reunion to remember the good memories of the island and its inhabitants. Fabien Roussel wishes to show the return of the Communist Party to the presidential elections, fifteen years after its last participation. Since Thursday and for six days, Fabien Roussel crisscrosses the whole island. On Sunday December 19, the leader of the Communists participated in a ceremony commemorating the abolition of slavery. He also met business leaders, farmers, fishermen and people suffering from poor housing. With 650,000 voters, Reunion Island is the biggest breeding ground for overseas territories and a must for candidates.
