“I do not understand that La France insoumise can present someone, under his colors, who has been convicted in the first instance for racial insult.” The former communist presidential candidate Fabien Roussel deplored, Monday, May 9, in the program “Les 4 Vérités” on France 2, that the journalist and activist Taha Bouhafs could present himself under the banner of the New Ecological People’s Union and social (Nupes), in the 14th district of the Rhône.

The deputy from the North thus regretted that the 25-year-old journalist had been sentenced to a fine of 1,500 euros, in particular for public insult, for having treated the police unionist Linda Kebab of“Service Arabic”. A conviction he appealed. “I fully understand Michèle Picard’s anger and candidacy [la maire communiste de Vénissieux] and we told La France insoumise that there was a problem”defended Fabien Roussel on France 2.

Fabien Roussel, who participated on Saturday in the Convention recording the birth on the left of the New Popular, Ecological and Social Union, then asked LFI to “see again” his candidacy to “create the conditions to win” in this constituency.
