Lance Stroll started his weekend well at the Austrian Grand Prix. He finished sixth in Friday’s qualifying session, ahead of his teammate Fernando Alonso.
The Quebecer completed a best lap of 1 min 4.593 s, 1.8 hundredths of a second faster than the veteran Spaniard. This one will start from seventh place on the grid. Friday’s qualifying was all the more important this weekend, since it gave the starting order for the race, but also the sprint race.

“Looks like we could have more difficult weather conditions for the sprint tomorrow [samedi]so it’s good to have a solid starting position for Sunday’s race”, analyzed Stroll, his remarks being taken up by the website of the Aston Martin team.
The Spielberg circuit proved to be rather tough to ride, with about 20 laps canceled for exceeding track limits. Stroll in particular suffered from it a few times, but without much consequence in the end.
“The track limits were tight, and I saw a few of my laps get canceled while I tried to conform to the fast corners, but it was the same for everyone and we are used to this. circuit,” admitted the Montrealer.
Turns 9 and 10 were the ones that gave the drivers a lot of trouble, and Grand Prix officials were merciless. Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) saw three consecutive rounds thrown in the trash and he had to settle for 15e position.
His teammate, Max Verstappen, will start from pole position for a fourth race in a row. He will be followed at the start by the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
