F1 | Lando Norris extends his contract at McLaren

(London) British Formula 1 driver Lando Norris has extended his contract for several years with McLaren, the team announced Friday in a press release.


Norris, 24, has been a member of the team based in Woking in England since 2018 and his previous contract ran until the 2025 season. Part of the specialist press had mentioned a possible departure to Red Bull’s competitors at this deadline. after a sluggish start to the 2023 season at McLaren.

The Bristol-born driver ultimately had the best season of his career as an individual, finishing the championship in sixth place after finishing six Grands Prix in second place.

He finished the season with 205 points, only one less than fifth, Monegasque Charles Leclerc, and fourth, Spaniard Fernando Alonso.

“Knowing what we were able to do last year, knowing that this is the team I have been with since the beginning, it is with them that I want to continue my story, both to achieve my goal of winning races than winning championships,” he said, quoted in a press release.

“In a way, I feel like I owe them. I’m part of the family and I really enjoy where I am. I don’t want to join another team and not like it,” he added.

With 104 races under his belt, Norris has managed to reach the podium 13 times in Grand Prix.
