F1 | British Grand Prix extended until 2034

(Paris) The Formula 1 British Grand Prix will continue to be held at Silverstone until 2034, following a new ten-year deal announced Thursday by world championship promoter Formula 1.

The British Grand Prix, organized since 1987 without interruption at Silverstone, “will remain on the F1 calendar until 2034 inclusive, following a ten-year extension with the promoter Silverstone and its owner, the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC),” F1 wrote in a statement.

“This new agreement will allow the Northamptonshire circuit to enter its ninth decade, having hosted the very first Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1950,” it said.

The Silverstone circuit hosted the first F1 race, on May 13, 1950, won by the Italian Giuseppe Farina (Alfa Romeo).

Located on a former Royal Air Force (RAF) base, it sees most of the teams, based in a triangle between Birmingham, London and Bristol, playing at home.

In the list of the most frequently run Grands Prix in the world championship since 1950, the British GP on the fast Silverstone track is in third place, behind the circuits of Monza (Italian GP) and Monaco. The 59e edition of the GP will be held on the weekend of July 7.

The 2024 F1 season begins on Saturday March 2 in Bahrain.
