While the United States has been a staunch supporter of Israel since the October 7 attacks, it has decided to raise its voice. From now on, extremist Israeli settlers will no longer be able to travel to the country.
The United States may be Israel’s greatest international ally, but it has decided to crack down. The country declared on Tuesday (December 5) that it would issue travel bans to extremist Israeli settlers, after a series of attacks against Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank. This rare decision sounds like a warning. Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the US State Department, said: “The United States will impose visa restrictions on anyone involved in undermining peace, security, and stability in the West Bank.”
The United States remains a supporter of Israel
Despite international criticism, Washington has been a fervent supporter of Israel since October 7. Last week, Antony Blinken had already warned the Israeli authorities that he planned to take such measures.
