Extracurricular activities at low cost

For a third of low-income families, the price of an extracurricular activity is a real obstacle. Already, you have to choose the activity carefully: horseback riding is more expensive than going to the gym. Then, try not to add transport costs, the more you will be ready and the more your child will be assiduous. Group lessons are also cheaper than individual lessons.

In many structures, such as conservatories, or municipalities, the price of activities is set according to household income. There are many helps. Since May 2021, for low-income families, there has been the sport pass, national aid of 50 euros for children between 6 and 17 years old, and even up to 28 years old for scholarship students subject to means. It is paid during the summer and the idea is to finance registration in a sports club or an approved association. You may have already received an email this summer telling you that you are eligible

There is also aid from the National Family Allowance Fund, based on your family quotient. This comes in the form of vouchers, which have different names depending on the fund: free time assistance, youth leisure tickets, etc. With it, you can pay for your child’s activity.

Often, these aids can be combined. Finally, the town halls, departments or regions also often participate to finance part of the cultural or sporting activities. Inquire because it is on a case-by-case basis, depending on the cities or regions

Employers can help you too. Not all companies offer it, but some offer their employees assistance with activities. The amount varies from company to company. This goes through the works council or the staff association, you will benefit from assistance on proof.
