Extract from an imperfect life, the new album from Rennes Da Silva

singer-songwriter, Emmanuel Da Silva has just released his 8th solo album “Extract from an imperfect life” on September 30.. In 2007, he was nominated for the Victoires de la musique “stage revelation” after making himself known to the general public with “l’Indécision” in 2005. Author of children’s books such as “Le Petit Nuage”, hailed by the Charles Cros 2019, the native of Nevers in Nièvre has lived in Rennes for 20 years.

Da Silva also directs the albums of great voices of French song: in particular the one which marked the great return of Julie Zenatti (“Remake the flowers dance” in 2020), Elsa (“Dare” in 2009) or Jenifer (the album “Secret paradise” in 2016). He also composed for Hélène Ségara (“Parmi La Foule” 2011) and wrote for Soprano or Enrico Macias.

At the center of his new album “Extract from an imperfect life”, the musician imagined a clown, an outrageous character in a brutal world who seeks a definition of happiness at the heart of our mortal lives, with all the limits of man. imperfect and tries to find paths of resilience. An album without machine or electro, with a lot of brass, sousaphones, percussions and bastringue piano, borrowing from circus music, but also from pop and jazz.

This worker’s son of Portuguese origin, born in Nevers in the Nièvre and first passed through punk and rock music, is fond of mixing the arts: Da Silva also likes to mix singing, music, storytelling, itineraries, plastic arts : we found him around a telephone booth for “You have a message”, a playful and artistic meeting in Languidic (56) in 2021. In the spring of 2022, he carried out an artistic residency in Chartres-de-Bretagne (35): “The harvest of fantasies”, musical, artistic work with words of inhabitants.
