Since this Saturday, April 16, 2022, environmental activists from Extinction Rebellion occupy the Grands Boulevards of Parisespecially at Porte Saint-Denis. The operation called “the inevitable rebellion” aims to put ecology back in the public and political debate just one week before the second round of the presidential election. This Sunday, April 17, activists say they are still there and claim at least a thousand participants this Sunday.
Four blocking and check-in points have been set up indicates this Sunday, an activist on the spot. The place has been transformed into a sort of civic agora. Activists and passers-by are invited to discuss current forms of democracy and think about those of tomorrow. A little before, a symbolic action was carried out via a “vélorution”, a bike ride in Paris. It is not excluded that other actions will be decided and carried out this evening.
