The prime minister said on Twitter that he was made aware of the exposure on Wednesday evening.

He said the result of a rapid antigen test he performed was negative. He is following local public health rules and self-isolating for five days.

Mr. Trudeau has indicated that he will be working from home during this period.

Several of Trudeau’s cabinet ministers have had to self-isolate in recent weeks after receiving a positive test result or because they were potentially exposed to the virus.

Trudeau is due to call foreign leaders on Thursday and address the Liberal caucus in a virtual retreat.
