An explosion due to a gas leak destroyed several residences under construction Monday morning in the Orleans district of eastern Ottawa, Ontario.
The Ottawa Fire Service tweeted that the exposure took place shortly after 6 a.m. in the Tenth Line and Shallow Pond areas.
“There is still gas leaking at this time,” said the Ottawa fire department, which dispatched several vehicles to the scene.
The Ottawa Police Service has announced the closure of several roads, including Tenth Line Road between Sweetvalley Street and Harvest Valley Avenue.
Buses were also dispatched to receive evacuated residents, added the SPO, inviting people to avoid the area.
