The coronation of Charles III is approaching in England, the opportunity to discover the love of creation of the future king. A team from France Télévisions went to the village of Poundbury which the prince created.

King Charles III or the man of many facets. From the eminent sovereign to the discreet man or even from the wealthy builder to the dreamy artist, to understand who the future King of England is, you have to go to a village on the south coast of England. Poundbury has 4,200 inhabitants and is reminiscent of a 19th century market town. However, when we look more closely, we can see noted 2015 on the pediment of a facade. In fact, the entire village has risen from the ground in the last thirty years. “That’s the only old building, it was a farm when there were only fields”, shows a resident. Everything was imagined by Prince Charles.

An ode to traditional English villages

To slow down traffic, there are no markings on the ground. He seems to find it unsightly. Same thing for traffic signs, reduced to the bare minimum. Also, a 50-page guide details what is allowed and what is prohibited such as PVC doors and garish colors. “It’s amazing! It feels like living in uptown London”exults a resident. “There is no graffiti, everything is very clean”, rejoiced another.
