The “little thumb” ended up having the skin of the leader of Ligue 2. Versailles defied the odds by beating Toulouse (1-0) in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, Saturday January 29. The resident of National 2 exulted twice, first ten minutes from the end of the match thanks to the decisive goal of Kapitbafan Djoco (79th), and at the final whistle after having resisted the last efforts of the TFC.

Versailles did not miss a golden opportunity, taking advantage of the early expulsion of Toulousain Steve Mvoué (22nd), guilty of a dangerous tackle. In numerical superiority for more than 70 minutes, Youssef Chibhi’s players found the fault on a quick attack, Djoco perfectly cutting a back serve at the near post.
This single goal will have been enough, even if the end of the match was eventful for the Versaillese. Folding is not breaking, even when his midfielder Melvyn Vieira collects a red card two minutes from the end of added time.
There will therefore be at least one National 2 team in the quarter-finals, pending the result of the Bergerac match, which hosts Saint-Etienne on Sunday (6:30 p.m.). Versailles will try to imitate Rumilly-Vallières, who qualified in the last four last year despite his status as an N2 club, already dismissing … Toulouse.
