Q. I currently have a Toyota Sienna four-wheel drive and would like to switch to a hybrid vehicle. My husband would like a 100% electric vehicle, but I am not ready for this option. We need space since there are five of us traveling in the car with the two dogs. I also need a four wheel drive vehicle to go to the chalet on the weekends. What are you offering ?

– Julie M.

R. Why not consider another Sienna? The latest model features a hybrid engine that easily consumes less than 7 L / 100 km. You could also think of the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, which recharges and offers fully electric range over a distance of some 50 km.

SUCCESSION

Q. I would like to know if, upon the death of a person, the rental of the car ceases by this very fact or if the heirs are obliged to continue the rental.

– Marcel B.

Death does not void a rental agreement.

R. Death does not cancel this kind of contract, unless specific insurance has been taken out to do so. Otherwise, the heirs can assign the lease to a third party or sublet the vehicle to avoid paying the balance of the debt. If the contract and the lessor allow it, they can also sell the vehicle and then pay off the outstanding debt.

HARO ON SUVS

Q. In about six months, I would like to get a new or almost new family car (eg: demonstration model). My budget is around $ 55,000. My two main selection criteria are driving pleasure and reliability. Storage space is also important for our family. I have always preferred wagons to SUVs. Should I like SUVs now? I was thinking of the Subaru Outback, the Audi Allroad, the Mercedes C-Class wagon and the Volvo V60. Can you enlighten me, please?

Audi Allroad

R. You don’t have to love SUVs, you know! You have very nice choices and, of these, Audi’s Allroad appears to be the most interesting because of its dynamic performance, the quality of its presentation and its finish. The Mercedes C-Class represents an alternative to consider. Two reliable products, as long as these vehicles are meticulously maintained. As for the Volvo V60, its future appears uncertain.

FAMILY STORY

Q. My cousin rented a well-equipped Audi A3 Quattro for four years. The car was leased in April 2018 and its lease expires in April 2022. The lease cash surrender value is $ 22,000. It will have approximately 10,000 km maximum on the odometer at the end of the lease. Since my cousin does not wish to buy this car, I would like to do so. Considering the Audi brand (luxury car), in your opinion, would this automobile be a good buy?

– Paul D.

R. Each used vehicle is unique. This is what makes its charm. In your case, the price is very interesting considering the mileage traveled. This is a good buy as this vehicle shares several components with other Volkswagen products. A very interesting purchase.
