Friday, May 20, a new government was appointed. After days of waiting, the verdict has fallen: if some ministers remain on board, this is not the case for everyone. Overview of those who take the lead and those who leave.
Bruno Le Maire, Gérald Darmanin and Éric Dupont-Moretti retain the same position as in the Castex government. The Minister of Economy and Finance is even promoted to number 2 in the government. In all, fourteen members of the old team will be in the new government. Among them, Gabriel Attal becomes budget minister and is replaced as government spokesperson by Olivia Grégoire. “The new five-year period that is beginning will be ecological or it will not be”this formula comes from Amélie de Montchalin, new Minister of Ecological Transition, who thus obtains a great promotion.
Among the big names of the former government who are neither renewed nor promoted, Jean-Michel Blanquer, Jean-Yves le Drian or Roselyne Bachelot are not part of the new team.
