The life of a castle is well known, but who would want to live the life of a… water tower? This former hydraulic reservoir, built in 1923 and proudly standing on the island of Vaxholm, in the greater Stockholm region, has been converted into a residence in a rather surprising way.

While retaining the brick and the original character of the building, the owners have fitted out four bedrooms, as many bathrooms, as well as several generously sized common areas. Here, rather than talking about the icing on the cake, we will rather evoke the sauna on the watchtower, since a typically Nordic relaxation area has been built at the top of the structure, allowing to enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding archipelago. .

If the main living rooms, as well as the annex apartment, have been made viable and equipped with a combination of old and modern furniture (the announcement does not specify whether some dressers come from IKEA …), there are still space for additional amenities. The real estate agency suggests, for example, converting the old water tank into a swimming pool or the second floor into a workshop lit by a series of roof windows.

Although set in the middle of a wooded area of ​​coniferous trees, the tower is not isolated from the rest of the world, since Vaxholm is a small town where residences, businesses and services are established.
