Forced into exile by Azerbaijani forces, the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh live in terror. One woman even talks about her fear of a massacre.

More than 100,000 Armenians have fled Nagorno-Karabakh since Azerbaijan’s lightning offensive on September 19-20. The exodus began spontaneously as soon as the border with Armenia opened, facilitating what looks like ethnic cleansing. To relieve congestion in the border town of Goris (Armenia)the authorities set up a reception center in Vyank (Armenia). At the weekendkend Sunday, October 1, nearly 90% fled the enclave.

“I’m afraid they will massacre us”

They all speak of the terror inspired by the Azerbaijani forces, which they call “Turkish“.”How can we live with the Turks when we remember that we lost our sons, our heroes? I left so much there, but I don’t care“, confides Spartak Harutyunyan, refugee from Nagorno Karabakh. A woman talks about her fear : “I can’t sleep at night. How long can you live with fear? Three years ago, when there was the war, they said: ‘Stay, everything will be fine’. But I’m afraid they’ll massacre us.
