Not to sell ! This is the title of the exhibition by the collective Architects Against Housing Alienation (AAHA) which will be presented at the Venice Biennale, which opens on Saturday until November 26.
The Canada Council for the Arts acts as curator.
The exhibition Not to sell ! aims to make people who visit the Canada Pavilion aware of the housing crisis affecting many communities across the country. The AAHA collective demonstrates that real estate speculation accentuates inequalities.
Composed of Adrian Blackwell, David Fortin, Matthew Soules, Sara Stevens, Patrick Stewart and Tijana Vujosevic, the collective will work with ten interdisciplinary teams made up of architects, community organizations and students.
For Simon Brault, Director and CEO of the Canada Council for the Arts, Not to sell ! illustrates the full potential of architecture: “an art and an approach that can choose to be in concrete dialogue with social movements and thus contribute to the advent of a better world”.
