The president of the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) makes her mea culpa and affirms that she will change the practices of her organization, but she does not intend to resign.
“I made mistakes,” admitted Isabelle Beaulieu during an interview on 98.5 on Wednesday.
Mme Beaulieu announced that OCPM employees would no longer hold meetings at restaurants, as they were accustomed to, and that travel was “questioned.”
Buying a $900 pair of headphones was also a mistake, she admitted. “I shouldn’t have, I regret it,” she replied, when questioned about it by host Luc Ferrandez.
The announcement of an audit which will be conducted by the City’s general auditor is welcomed by Isabelle Beaulieu. “For management, you have to get to the bottom of things. What I want is help to restructure the management of the institution,” she said.
She does not intend to resign, but leaves it to elected officials, who will have to decide if she is still “the right person” to lead the organization.
The OCPM is in hot water due to the revelations of reports broadcast by Quebecor in recent days, concerning questionable expenses made over several years.
The current president of the executive committee of the City of Montreal, Dominique Ollivier, is also in the hot seat since she chaired the organization between 2014 and 2021.
Isabelle Beaulieu will have to appear next week before the Montreal Finance and Administration Commission to answer questions from elected officials, the president of the commission, Pierre Lessard-Blais, announced on Wednesday.
The leader of the opposition at city hall, Aref Salem, asked, on the X network, that Dominique Ollivier also appear to answer for his management. “Her expenses and conflicts of interest as former president of the OCPM are as scandalous as those of Ms.me Beaulieu. The same treatment must apply,” writes Mr. Salem.
