(Southwest Ranches) Former Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis was found dead at his South Florida home Monday.
However, the police do not suspect a crime in this case.
Police in Davie, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, responded to a call about a medical emergency at Davis’ home Monday morning. However, the 35-year-old man was dead when officers arrived. No cause of death has yet been released. Autopsy results are still pending.
In a press release, the police indicated that the investigation is still ongoing.
Davis played 10 seasons in the NFL after being drafted 25e total by the Dolphins in 2009. After three seasons in Miami and six more in Indianapolis, he signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills for the 2018 season. However, he left the team at halftime of the second match, indicating in a press release that after several injuries and operations, “reality had hit him hard and he should no longer be on the field”.
In 121 games, he intercepted 22 passes, returning one for a touchdown. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2015, with the Colts.
