For seven weeks, she was kept away from her father. On October 12, the latter gave an interview, thinking his daughter was dead. “She died. (…) It was the best possibility, what I was hoping for. She was either dead or in Gaza. And if you know what they do to people in Gaza, it’s worse than death“, he confided. A 12-year-old girl was also released, and fell into the arms of her uncle.

Broken lives

These two young girls are among the 13 Israeli hostages released on the evening of Saturday, November 25, by Hamas. Footage shared by the terrorist organization shows the exchange with the Red Cross in Gaza. For some, however, freedom has a bitter taste of heartbreak, like for a brother and sister aged 13 and 17. Their mother was murdered on October 7. For the other hostage families, there remains the unbearable wait and the rebounds of hope.
