Notice to car users in Pau: there are change from March 1, 2022, as far as parking is concerned. The City of Pau intends “modernize” its parking system. These changes are part of the vast renovation program undertaken by the municipality of Pau since 2014.
Free park-and-ride
From March 1, 2022, park and ride facilities will become free. Objective of the municipality: to encourage motorists to use public transport to reach the city centre. “It will no longer be necessary to present an Idelis bus ticket to exit the car park”, explains the City of Pau. 600 places are available in park and ride facilities. The connection is made in 15 minutes from the park and ride facilities, with the T2 line or the FEBUS line.
Opening of the Gare Short Term car park
On the Pau station side, a new short-term station car park is due to open at the beginning of March. The first half hour of parking is free “to allow station users to be dropped off and picked up in complete peace of mind”specifies the City of Pau.
New schedules for underground car parks
In the city center of Pau, no more questions to ask about the schedules of underground car parks. They will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This concerns five car parks in the city center: Clémenceau, Aragon, Bosquet, Halle République and Beaumont, i.e. 2,416 parking spaces.
Online subscription request
Another novelty: the online subscription request. To facilitate the process, it is now possible to submit a form on the website of the city of Pau. The subscription quotas have already been reached for the Verdun and Clémenceau car parks, warns the municipality.
New fee schedule
As of March 1, 2022, new rates come into effect. The subscription price for underground car parks in the city center increases 10 euros per month on average. For the Verdun car park, it doubles, and goes from 20 to 40 euros per month. Passing motorists are also concerned, hourly rates also increase : between 30 and 50 centimes more depending on the underground car parks. The city of Pau specifies that these prices had not changed since 2015.
