For “Everyone Knew”, Elodie Wallace was inspired by the eponymous autobiography of Valérie Bacot to retrace his story and his fight on stage.
After having undergone several incests since the age of 6, she has been driven out of the family home at 17, pregnant with her rapist. The “other” then demands that they move in together. They will marry and have 4 children.
The ordeal continues. Blows, humiliations, deprivation… Valérie Bacot is the victim of domestic violence. She will even forced into prostitution. She tries to file a complaint but she is not “listened to”. Then one day, the “other” also wants to prostitute Valérie’s daughter, who was then 14 years old. It’s the click!
On March 13, 2016, she murders her husband. In June 2021, she was sentenced to 4 years in prison, 3 of which were suspended.
The play “Everyone Knew” is the story of a deadly silencethe dysfunction of institutions, difficulty in hearing and taking into account the voices of victims.
Sylvie Testud embodies in turn Valeric Bacot and his lawyer, who defended him during the trial.
The play is to be discovered until December 30 at the Théâtre de l’oeuvre in Paris. Book your tickets quickly.
