Will Stephen Williams still be the leader of the Tour de Suisse at the end of the fifth stage? The Briton from Bahrain-Victorious will be a target of choice on Thursday June 16, as the peloton will tear through the Swiss valleys of Ticino, which resemble the Ardennes classics of spring. The bumps will follow to sort out and crown the winner of the day in Novazzano, on the Italian border, to the south. The strongest and most ambitious punchers in the general classification can enjoy themselves on the final circuit. The stage will start without the Jumbo-Visma team, which withdrew from the Tour de Suisse in the morning due to cases of Covid-19.
After Stephen Williams, Andreas Leknessund, Peter Sagan and Daryl Impey, will a fifth different rider put his name on the winners of a stage of the Tour de Suisse 2022? Winner of Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) emerges as one of the favorites. Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) will undoubtedly be on the lookout for a good shot, as will his teammate Adam Yates. Also watch out for Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates), a pure puncher and the versatile Sergio Higuita (Bora-Hansgrohe). Follow the 5th stage live.
