Screens: even children are addicted to them

The French spend many hours every day in front of a screen. A trend that also affects younger people, even if some parents are working to limit this trend.
Screens are everywhere, and we look at them for several hours a day. French people spend on average 4.6 hours per day in front of a screen, all media combined, or 29% of time excluding sleep. “As soon as I have a little time, I like to look at decoration and real estate sites, because I’m in real estate”confides a woman. “It really has become slavery”, launches another. Children are particularly exposed to this trend, and increasingly so as they grow up.
Find an alternative to screens
According to a study, screen time can climb up to 7 hours per day for a teenager. A mother, for her part, made a radical decision: her children did not look at any screens. “No TV, no tablet, no phone”, she decides. For Serge Tisseron, psychiatrist, the main thing is above all to find an alternative. “The issue of screens cannot be resolved solely by limiting the time of use. Ultimately, we must take into account the general climate, the family environment, the school environment”he believes.
