Tenants evacuated from their accommodation in Rosemont Saturday afternoon, after possible signs of collapse were observed there, were finally able to return to their homes in the late evening.
“Only one family could not be reinstated, on the first floor of one of the three buildings,” says Kevin Francoeur, prevention chief at the Montreal Fire Department (SIM).
The other residents were allowed to return home around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday after a six-hour wait. They will therefore not have to be relocated elsewhere.
Recall that nearly forty people had been evacuated around noon, on rue de Lorimier, for a total of 15 homes. Possible signs of collapse were the reason for this evacuation.
“The engineer went with the collaboration of the owner, and it was established that there was no risk for the tenants to return to their residences, with the exception of a family on the first floor”, specifies the chief prevention.
The spokesperson for Québec solidaire, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, had also visited his riding following the evacuation to see the inventory.
“I will continue to follow the case closely until the circumstances are clarified, making sure that the rights of all are respected,” he said in a statement.
