Eurovision 2024: Slimane will represent France

The head of the French delegation to Eurovision announced it exclusively on France Inter. The singer says he is “happy but very stressed”.

Slimane will represent France for Eurovision 2024, announced Wednesday November 8 on France Inter Alexandra Redde-Amiel, head of the French delegation to Eurovision and director of entertainment and games at France Télévisions.

The song he will perform will be revealed on the 8 p.m. news on France 2 on Wednesday evening. This unpublished title is called My love. Slimane declares himself “happy” but he also explains being “very stressed” to participate in “this institution”.

“Showing France is showing love, sharing.”

Slimane claims to be working on the staging of his interpretation: “I hope there will be romance, seduction, and heart because it’s a song where I put all my heart so I would like it to represent that”.

Two million albums sold

The 34-year-old singer “has long since conquered the hearts of the French”, welcomes Alexandra Redde-Amiel. Singer-songwriter, Slimane won the fifth season of The Voice, in 2016, the TF1 musical talent show. Alexandra Redde-Amiel justifies this choice by evoking the “two million albums [vendus] to his credit”as well as its “five prizes at the NRJ Music Awards”.

“It’s an obvious choice, but it’s also a choice from an artist of generosity, of authenticity which corresponds perfectly to what Eurovision expects,” adds Alexandra Redde-Amiel.

The final will be held on May 11, 2024 in Malmö, Sweden. The previous representatives of France were the Quebecois La Zarra 16th in 2023, Alvan & Ahez, penultimate in 2022, or even Barbara Pravi, second in 2021.
