There was no match between Europe and the United States. The Old Continent team won the 44th Ryder Cup, a prestigious golf competition which takes place every two years, on Sunday October 1 in Rome, with a score of 16.5 to 11.5. The alternation between the two teams continues after the victory of the Americans in 2021. Europe remains undefeated on its soil since 1993.

The final result left little doubt from the first half of the sessions on the program. The Europeans signed a first day never seen before in the annals of the Ryder Cup with five points in advance and no matches lost (6.5 to 1.5), a gap increased to seven units after the 3rd session on Saturday morning.

The Norwegian Viktor Hovland and the Swedish sensation Ludvig Aberg, who turned professional only a few months ago, notably signed the largest victory in the history of the event in the “foursome” format, two players against two players, everyone takes turns hitting the ball for their team. The two Scandinavians made short work of the pair made up of world number one Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka, already securing their victory after the 11th of the course’s 18 holes.

The burst of pride on Saturday afternoon had no lasting effect in the American ranks. Led in particular by the Spaniard Jon Rahm, undefeated all weekend, Europe left no hope of a fantastic comeback to its opponents. A little revenge after the 2021 edition which saw the United States win with the widest margin in history (19-9).
